Criminal Damage can be a Class 2 Misdemeanor or a Felony in the State of Arizona. Under Arizona law, a person commits criminal damage by recklessly defacing or damaging property belonging to another person. You can also be charged with this crime if you are accused of tampering with another person's property with the purpose of substantially impairing its function, use or value. The severity of the offense you are charged with depends on the dollar amount of the damage caused.
Class 4 Felony if Damage is $10,000 or greater
Class 5 Felony if Damage is $2,000 to $10,000
Class 6 Felony if Damage is $250 to $2,000
Class 2 Misdemeanor if Damage less than $250
